Our Beginnings
Bobby F. & Bill D. were shocked at the sudden break-up of the band they were with. Looking for a way to move forward, Bobby offered his big red storage barn for a place to practice.
With Craigslist ads, phone calls, emails and talking to every person that looked or acted like a musician, we were able to put together the beginnings of a band.
With Paul B., Bobby F. Tom S. Veronica K. and our guitarist Usmaan, we stated what was to be known as the Big Red Barn Jams, attracting musicians from across Western Mass and Northern Connecticut, many still with us today.
Whats with the name???
"How the hell did we get a name like, Nice Shirt"?
A professor of music, storyteller and friend, Dan M. spoke of his beginnings with his first band.
"As the story goes" at the end of the gigs, the band leader would go around the room complimenting players on their good performance, but when he got to Dan, the only compliment given was "nice shirt Dan". It worked!
This group has been a labor of love.
